The Privileged

I finally went for a run! Yayyyy!
I did just under 3 miles down the Embarcadero yesterday morning. I think it’s been almost 3 weeks since my last run. It felt awesome.

I enjoyed breakfast with Hulk and the Squish before blasting off to work. A quick lunch at my desk in the afternoon, then headed home to an impromptu party with some neighbors and friends.

Oh, in case you were curious about my Stitch Fix, this top came with it. It is soooo soft and comfortable!

There was a networking party at a nearby bar we were thinking about attending, but the pre-party started at our place and went longer than planned. So everyone just went out while I put the Squish down and finally watched the last episode of Downton Abbey. Now I understand why so many people hated this season. I didn’t exactly *hate* it, but I definitley think they’re running out of plot ideas and I don’t particularly prefer their method of shaking things up, to put it nicely. There is really no reason to make me cry every other episode, D.A.

Anyway, dinner was leftover beef curry topped with bacon. Because everything is better topped with bacon. Squishy agrees with me.

Oh, we also got some roof time in. I had no idea you could see Union Square from our roof. But you can.

A coworker and I were musing about how techology has transformed my generation. Just yesterday Carrots ‘n’ Cake talked about her first experience with the internet. When our parents were growing up, they were discouraged from spoiling with stories of how their folks lived through the Great Depression, the Holocaust, etc. The worst I will be able to tell my kids is life without cell phones and internet. We are truly a spoiled, privileged genration. Anyway, just a rambling thought for your Thursday!

The Munchies:
Breakfast – egg scramble with red pepper and spinach, coffee x 2

Lunch – spinach salad with evoo, lemon juice, bell pepper, chicken, sweet potato

Dinner – leftover beef curry, bacon, lots of wine

The Works:
2.5-ish mile run, ~ 10 min/mi pace (gotta download my Garmin data at some point)

No Respect.

This will be a quickie post. I am tired and would like to make it to bed on time at least once this week. Plus, I plan on going for a run tomorrow and I reeeeely don’t want to oversleep and miss it. I haven’t run in a couple of weeks (Ironic now that you’ve just glanced at my blog title) and I want to do a half marathon by this summer. So sleep I must get.

I actually got my butt to the gym this morning for an arm workout. Then Squish and I dined together over some lovely eggs and bacon. He even used a fork like a real human, rather than use it to bang things loudly then throw it on the floor! So. Proud. *sniff*

Wait, is this the salad fork or dinner fork?

Then I went to work. Then I came home, Hulk had dinner ready, and we dined again. I decided to organize and clean up Squish’s toys, all inspired by my other new girl crush (sorry, Jennifer but you’re still always in my heart) to simplify and get rid of junk. Fortunately Squish only has 2 collapsable boxes worth of toys so it wasn’t that hard. Plus, he kept gallantly making more room in the boxes by taking things out as I put more in them. Kind of like the scene in “Rover Dangerfield” where Rover is unpacking Connie’s suitcase as she’s filling it up. (WHAT?!? You haven’t seen “Rover”? Get thee to Netflix now, you mangy mutt!)

“I know, I don’t understand these people either!”

Anyway, then I cleaned the toilets and we went to bed.

Just keeping it real over here. And with that, I bid you good night.

Moving Day

I’ve moved quite a bit in my life. We rarely have stayed in the same place for more than a couple of years. So I’m very familiar with the logistics and trials of a physical move.

A blog move? Terrified. Completely ball-of-anxiety over here. I mean, how can I do this to my readers (both of you)?!? What if it doesn’t work? What if I lose all my stuff? I spent so much time on my current blog (not that you could tell) and now I have to do it all over AGAIN??

Then I followed my own advice by giving myself some advice. And I, in true type-A Emily fashion, created a pros-and-cons list about moving blogs and how I should do it. Since “start over new” outweighed “excessively complicated transfer to new platform with little experience and lack of support”, I decided to use the extra time trying to re-create my blog for running and instead, well, here we are. You probably understand now what I did.

So, here we are in the new place. It looks like crap since nothing has been customized and everything is still in its virtual box, but since it’s “about the journey and not the destination” I’ll spend a little time this weekend on the Google figuring out how to clean up and we’ll see how it progresses.

Until then, I need more coffee.

Oooh, frothy coffee with coconut milk. Get in mah belly.

Coming Soon to an Internet Near You

Welcome, Internet Journeyer. This is the new home of the blog formerly known as “Munchies ‘n’ Marvels“. Be prepared for more epic adventures and crazy hijinks as the drama unfolds. In the meantime, I am working on getting this site up and operational; so as that one dude said on “Jurassic Park”, “Hold on to your butts.”
