The “Welcome to Nebraska” One

First off, this post was inspired by a Monday newsletter from cavegirleats.com about blogging. So thanks, Liz, for bringing me back.

So, you may have noticed I have taken a blogging hiatus. I wasn’t sure how long it would last, but I knew I was just burnt out. Also, blogs are a good tool for some folks to hold them accountable and motivate them to be healthy. I was finding blogging as constant stress, comparing to other blogs that were clearly in a different spot on their health journey. I thought blogging would encourage me to be a good role model for eating right and keeping fit. But all I could think about off-blog was what a joke this was; I’m not fit. Why would anyone want to read about the struggling healthy habits of a chunky girl?

So I took a break for my own mental healthy and well-being. I had some stuff to work through, and I couldn’t do it on line. I wrote privately, had many conversations with Hulk about my goals and how to get there, and just took my blogging time and turned it into “me” time.

I feel much better about things now. And I had been wondering about how to come back. I didn’t want to blog the same way I did before. I’m not anyone’s good example. I’m a lazy cook, I don’t run long distances or do crazy workouts, and my life is, well, your typical boring life of a working mom, so that’s not too exciting. But I enjoy writing. I enjoy thinking about things and talking about my thoughts and just staying plugged in with the online world. I’m not sure where all of this is going, but I’m going to roll with it for now.

So … I guess what I’m saying is that I’m back, I’m not sure for how long or how consistently, I don’t know what I’m doing, and this might get dumb. All I can say for sure is that blogs are a journey and, like with any journey, for every super-awesome-we-should-live-here moment there’s a time where you’re driving through Nebraska.

Welcome to Nebraska!
