Confession: at first I put “Hi, there!” as a greeting, but I know Hulk hates the phrase “Hi there” so I changed it.
Anyway, how are you on this beautiful Wednesday? We are all doing great over here. I have to tell you about my mini adventure yesterday. I went for a walk over lunch like I usually do around the business park. This time I walked by the water, which comes in from the bay.
I happened to look in the water, and was incredibly surprised to see jellyfish!
They were all over the shoreline. Dozens of them. I don’t know if jellyfish (or sea creatures for that matter) are a common occurrence where you’re from, but after 8 years of living in the bay area, this was a first for me!
I’ve been slacking on my exercise lately. Despite my goal to hit the gym at least five times a week, last week I think I made it only 3 times. So this week I keep resolving to get my butt out of bed and hit it, but I’ve had a couple late nights in a row and 5:00 am wake-up call is just not working for me. So yesterday I resolved to head right to the gym when I got home from work. I told Hulk my plan so it was easy to whisk in and out of the apartment to trade my work wear for my workout wear.
I did a modified Summer Shape Up Week 4 workout. I used 10 lb dumbbells and completed the circuit three times.
- Side lunge with overhead press, 10 reps each side
- Bicep curl, 10 reps
- Squats, 10 reps
- Bodyweight lunges, 10 reps total
- Lateral raises, 10 reps
- Bent over rows, 10 reps
- Sumo squat, 10 reps
- Push ups, modified on knees, 10 reps
- That thing where you’re on all fours and lift your arm and opposite leg alternatively, 10 reps each side
Then I did 30 minutes on the stationary bike in hill mode followed by a good 10 minute stretch session.
I was sooooo sweaty after the bike. Like, pools of sweat were all over the floor. I even brought a towel this time. Gross.
Anyway, Whole30 is on pause until next week. I guess being gone all last week and weekend did not set me up for success as far as planning goes. We haven’t been to the store since who knows when, and the past few nights I’ve had stuff going on so I haven’t even been able to prep food or make dinner. So I’ve worked out a meal plan for next week, and this weekend I’ll have time to get my ducks in a row and try again.
This morning’s breakfast was a little haphazard. Hulk had to drive into the office today, so we carpooled in. Awesome, I was chauffeured to work door to door! Not awesome: leaving the house at 6:30 meant no time for workout or breakfast. Okay, so I did set my alarm for 5:00, but I ended up resetting it to 6:00 for a little more sleep. I need to get better at that.
Anyway, I snacked on some little tomatoes while I filled our travel mugs with coffee.
Then when I got to work I grabbed a sausage breakfast sandwich.
This little puppy will nearly keep me full until dinner. But as delicious as it is, I’m looking forward to having my own food ready to go next week. Fail to plan … 🙂
